I use external hard drives to back up the 2 pc's and 1 Mac in my household to a single device which I keep offsite. This drive is the same capacity and same physical dimensions as one I bought a year ago, but it's noticeably lighter -- to the point that I'll routinely carry it in my briefcase.

Plug and play was flawless, as fast and easy as a keychain drive. File transfers felt quick. And the "designer colors" may seem silly, but if you have multiple similar pieces of equipment, a choice of bright colors makes them easier to tell apart, and even to find in the depths of a black briefcase!
