I installed an inexpensive Buffalo Technology DriveStation SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI Express 2-Port Interface Card IFC-PCIE2U3 in my desktop PC and connected the docking station along with Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST2000DL003.

The seagate drives (above) are inexpensive and fast via USB connection.

Wow, Execellent performance...

NOTE: USB 3.0 is 10 times faster than USB 2.0.

Be aware that if you connect slow 1.0 USB devices to your computer you may degrate the performance of the other USB ports to only communicate at USB 1.0 Standard.

Common 1.0 USB devices are USB keyboards and Mices.
